Waddick Doyle is a Professor and Program Director of the MSc in Strategic Brand Management at the American University of Paris (AUP). He holds a Laurea from the Università di Bologna, a BA and PhD from Griffith University, Australia, and completed post-doctoral studies at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris. Since joining AUP in 1996, he has pioneered the undergraduate and graduate Global Communications programs. His research focuses on semiotics, media studies, branding, and the political economy of media, with particular attention to representations of Islam in Western media and comparative self-training traditions like Sufism and psychoanalysis. Doyle is a frequent media commentator on France 24, RFI, and ABC Australia, addressing issues of social media, global communications, and media ethics. He has organized over 30 international conferences, including events on civic media, the Arab revolutions, and interfaith dialogue. His academic work spans books like Communication in the Era of Attention Scarcity (2019) and over 50 articles in journals such as Southern Review and Popular Communication. He co-founded the Civic Media Lab at AUP and actively engages in public discourse on media’s role in democracy and cultural interdependence.
