WANG Rong is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University (SMU), holding this position since July 2015. She previously served as Assistant Professor (2007–2015) and Area Coordinator of Finance (2014–2017). Her academic journey includes a Ph.D. and M.S.B.A. in Finance from Washington University in St. Louis, USA, and a B.Sc. in Finance from Tsinghua University, China (1998 graduate with Highest Honors).
Her research focuses on empirical corporate finance, including topics like corporate cash holdings, financial analyst behavior, executive compensation, and information asymmetry. Notable contributions include studies on analyst benchmarks, CEO compensation design, and the impact of ideological factors on corporate policies.
WANG Rong has received prestigious recognitions, including the Sing Lun Fellowship Award (2013) and the Dean’s Teaching Honour List (2012). Her work bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical evidence, addressing real-world issues such as investment decisions, regulatory effects, and cognitive influences on financial practices.
As a mentor, she advises doctoral candidates in SMU’s DBA programs, including BIAN Jinfei, HAN Chunjian, LIU Zhendong, and QIN Bing. Her research interests also extend to banking, financial intermediation, and strategic priorities in Asia.
