W. Linwood Jones is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Central Florida. His research specializes in satellite microwave remote sensing for ocean, atmosphere, and climate change studies, with expertise in sensor technology development and geophysical retrieval algorithms.
Current projects include the GOLD SALMON project (NASA), improved Aquarius salinity retrievals, extreme wind event analysis, and volcanic eruption forecasting. He develops methods for inter-satellite radiometric calibration and hurricane monitoring using the Hurricane Imaging Radiometer.
