Vítor Neves

Vítor Neves is an Assistant Professor at the NOVA School of Law, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. He has been affiliated with NOVA since 2006 and has also taught at the Portuguese Catholic University Law School, Agostinho Neto University (Angola), ISCTEM, and the Catholic University of Nampula (Mozambique).

• Education: Law degree (1996) from University of Lisbon Law School; Doctorate in Private Law (2006) from NOVA School of Law.

His research focuses on Private Law, particularly contract law, law of obligations, civil liability, and comparative legal systems. He has expanded his work into company and securities law, with recent contributions in energy law.

His publications address topics such as credit assignment in guarantee, shareholder voting rights in securities law, and comparative analyses of Portuguese and English legal systems. These works reflect interdisciplinary approaches to contractual, corporate, and financial law.

He has served as scientific and pedagogical coordinator for the Master’s Degree in Law and Management (2003–2017), a joint program between NOVA School of Law and NOVA School of Business and Economics.
