Vonn Walter, PhD, is an Associate Professor at Penn State University with dual appointments in the Department of Public Health Sciences (Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Division) and the Department of Molecular and Precision Medicine (Institute for Personalized Medicine). He is affiliated with the Penn State Cancer Institute (Mechanisms of Carcinogenesis Program) and the Penn State Center for Research on Tobacco and Health.
His research focuses on cancer genomics, specializing in RNA sequencing analysis, gene expression profiling, and development of bioinformatics tools like the DiNAMIC algorithm for genomic aberrations and the mVisAGe R package for bivariate correlation visualization. He actively collaborates with Penn State College of Medicine researchers and leads projects in statistical genomics and precision oncology.
Dr. Walter holds a PhD in Biostatistics from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (2005–2010) and completed postdoctoral training at the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (2010–2013).
