About
Volker Wulfmeyer is Professor and Managing Director of the Institute of Physics and Meteorology at the University of Hohenheim. His research examines land-atmosphere interactions, climate modeling, and weather prediction systems.
Current projects include: EURO-CORDEX regional climate modeling, High Definition Cloud and Precipitation prediction (HD(CP)²), Land-Atmosphere Feedback Observatory (LAFO), and seasonal forecasting for food security (CLIFOOD). His group develops convection-permitting models using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) system and studies feedback processes between atmosphere and land surfaces.
Research applications include improving seasonal forecasts for East Africa, optimizing cloud seeding techniques, and assessing land-use change impacts on regional climate. The team operates advanced remote sensing instruments including water vapor Raman lidar systems.
