Prof. Volker Coors is a Professor of Computer Science and Geoinformatics at the University of Applied Sciences Stuttgart (HFT Stuttgart). He currently serves as Vice Rector for Research and Digitalization (since March 2023) and previously held roles such as Scientific Director of the Institute for Applied Research (2017–2023), Dean of the Information Logistics Program (2002–2017), and Head of the Steinbeis Transfer Center for Technical Consulting (2006–2017).
Education: He obtained a Diplom in Computer Science with a minor in Civil Engineering from TU Darmstadt (1997, summa cum laude), followed by a Dr.-Ing. in Computer Graphics (2001). He held a DAAD scholarship for research at Georgia Institute of Technology (1997–2002). His research focuses on urban digital twins, 3D geodata infrastructures, and spatial data visualization, with contributions to projects like CityGML standardization and the Virtual Environmental Planning System (VEPs).
