Vladimir Rauta

Vladimir Rauta is an Associate Professor at the University of Reading, specializing in international relations and security studies with a focus on proxy wars, civil conflicts, and hybrid warfare. He is the Module Convenor for PO1WAR (War and Warfare) and PO3DCW (Dynamics of Civil Wars). His research explores conflict delegation, state-sponsored proxies, and grey zone warfare. He actively supervises postgraduate students in these areas.

Rauta has contributed to numerous publications, including co-editing the Routledge Handbook of Proxy Wars (2023) and authoring key papers on proxy warfare theory, civil war dynamics, and strategic defense policies. His work bridges academic theory and practical policy analysis, addressing contemporary challenges in global conflict.
