Dr. Vivian Stamatopoulos is an Associate Teaching Professor in Criminology and Justice at Ontario Tech University's Faculty of Social Science and Humanities. She holds a Master of Arts and PhD in Sociology from York University. Her research focuses on child and youth-based caregiving, unpaid family caregiving, and long-term care systems, making her a leading advocate for LTC residents in Ontario.
Her research explores:
- Psychosocial impacts of caregiving on youth
- Systemic challenges in long-term care facilities
- Policy advocacy for family caregiver recognition
- Pandemic-related trauma in care environments
- Technological barriers in care coordination
Dr. Stamatopoulos has received numerous honors including the Doris Anderson Award (2021), multiple teaching awards from York University and Ontario Tech, and research recognition from the ICAIR Scientific Spotlight Series. She has conducted over 300 expert interviews on long-term care issues during the COVID-19 pandemic.
