Viveca Greene (she/her) is an Associate Professor of Media Studies at Hampshire College. Her teaching and research explore intersections of media, culture, and politics through critical humor studies, audience analysis, and disinformation research.

Greene’s research examines far-right extremists’ use of irony and social media, feminist satire’s role in combating rape culture, and racist trolling dynamics. She has co-edited influential volumes like A Decade of Dark Humor: How Comedy, Irony, and Satire Shaped Post-9/11 America, while her work appears in journals such as Signs, Studies in American Humor, and Social Semiotics. Her courses, including “Hate, Hope & Humor: Media and Politics” and “Intro to Critical Media Studies: Truth and Post-Truth,” engage students with interdisciplinary frameworks from communication, sociology, and political science.
