Vis Madhavan

Professor Vis Madhavan holds the Sam Bloomfield Chair in Engineering Innovation at Wichita State University's College of Engineering, within the Department of Industrial, Systems and Manufacturing Engineering. With a Ph.D. from Purdue University, he has been teaching at WSU since August 1996.

• Specializes in mechanics and tribology of machining/sheet metal forming
• Develops virtual reality applications for manufacturing process design and engineering education
• Research includes finite element analysis, strain rate/temperature measurements, and inverse estimation methods

His work receives funding from NSF, Department of Defense (Army Research Office), Boeing, Cessna, Raytheon, NIST, and Naval Research Laboratory. He teaches foundational courses like Manufacturing Methods and Materials I/II, Analysis of Manufacturing Processes, and Finite Elements in Metal Forming.
