Virginia Power

Virginia Power is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Environment and Technology at the University of the West of England (UWE). She serves as the Programme Leader for the MSc in Information Management and the BSc in Business Computing. Her research focuses on open knowledge, data, and resources, examining the politics of openness alongside equality, diversity, and inclusive practices in technology.

• Expertise: Over 40 years of experience in library and information services across schools, further education, higher education, and the public sector. Advisor/Consultant for Jisc and collaborator with Jisc Digital Media.
• Research Themes: Open educational resources, metadata, digitisation, preservation, and the ethical implications of technology.
• Teaching: Specialises in information science, management, and knowledge systems.
