Dr. Virginia E. Willis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Neurology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), with her primary clinical appointment at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, AR. She is a board-certified child neurologist specializing in epilepsy and pediatric demyelinating disorders, and plays a key leadership role in both clinical and educational programs.
Her research and clinical interests center on epilepsy and pediatric demyelinating disorders, including multiple sclerosis. She is one of five pediatric epileptologists at UAMS and Arkansas Children’s Hospital, contributing to the Level 4 Epilepsy Center within the Neuroscience Center. Additionally, she directs the Pediatric Demyelinating Clinic and is certified as a Multiple Sclerosis Partner in Care by the National MS Society.
Dr. Willis is deeply committed to medical education and currently serves as the Child Neurology Residency Program Director, overseeing resident training and curriculum development. Her professional affiliations include the American Academy of Neurology, Child Neurology Society, American Epilepsy Society, and the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers.
She completed her medical degree, Child Neurology residency (serving as chief resident), and a fellowship in neurophysiology, all at UAMS. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology, and is also a diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology.
