Violeta Šlekienė

Violeta Šlekienė is an Associate Professor at the Šiauliai Academy of Vilnius University, specializing in science education and social sciences. She holds a Doctorate in Social Sciences (1995–2000, Vilnius Pedagogical University and Siauliai University), an Optometrist qualification (2003–2004), and a Physics degree with teaching certification (1975–1980, Vilnius University).

Her research focuses on science education methodologies in schools and higher education, particularly in the context of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) initiatives. She has led key roles such as Head of the STEAM Center (2020–2022), Chief Specialist for Study Process Organization (2019–2020), and Head of the Physics Department (2000–2011).

She has spearheaded projects like Providing Schools with Science and Technology Tools (EU-funded, 2018–2022) and Analysis of Innovations in STEAM Education (2018, Research Council of Lithuania). Her work emphasizes integrating interdisciplinary approaches and improving science education accessibility.

She has participated in international collaborations, including internships at the University of Iceland and University of Tartu, focusing on STEAM education. She is also actively involved in editorial and professional roles, such as the Lithuanian Physics Olympiad evaluation committee and the editorial board of Natural Science Education.
