Violet Naanyu

Violet Naanyu is an Associate Professor at Moi University Kenya, Visiting Scholar at Aga Khan University Kenya, and Graduate Faculty Scholar at Northern Illinois University (2020-2024). She holds multiple leadership roles including Field Co-Director of Research at the AMPATH Program, Founder/Director of the AMPATH Qualitative Research Core, and Board Member of the International Centre for Reproductive Health (ICRH). She previously served as Past Co-Chair (2019-2022) of the Indigenous Populations Working Group under the Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases.

Her expertise spans Medical Sociology, Medical Anthropology, and Bioethics, with a focus on improving research and healthcare delivery in resource-constrained environments. She actively contributes to ethics governance through memberships in Kenya's National Scientific and Ethics Committee (NACOSTI), Bioethics Society of Kenya, and two institutional research ethics committees.

Her work emphasizes global bioethics collaborations and evaluations to enhance equitable research practices. She has led initiatives strengthening ethical standards in sub-Saharan Africa through her roles in the Africa Ethics Working Group (AEWG) and other international alliances.
