Vincent Calvez is a CNRS Research Fellow at the Pure and Applied Mathematics Unit (UMPA) of École normale supérieure de Lyon and a member of the Inria NuMed project team. He was awarded the European Mathematical Society Prize in 2016 and the CNRS Bronze Medal in 2014 for his research in applied mathematics to biology.
- University: University of Lyon
- Affiliation: Pure and Applied Mathematics Unit (UMPA), Inria NuMed
His research focuses on mathematical modeling of biological phenomena, including bacterial collective movement, cell polarization, and ecological invasion fronts. He has contributed to interdisciplinary studies combining transport equations, nonlinear dynamics, and kinetic theory of gases to explain biological processes.
He is involved in mathematics outreach through the traveling exhibition 'Mathàlyon' and the 'Math-en-folie' summer school. His ERC Starting Grant (MESOPROBIO) funds collaborative research with institutions like the Mathematics Institute of Toulouse (IMT) and the Laboratory of Mathematics of Chambéry (LAMA) from 2015 to 2020.
