About
Dr. Viktor Stepanov serves as an Adjunct Professor at the International Center for Interaction of Magnetism and Superconductivity with Topological Matter (MagTop), Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences, and maintains dual affiliation with the B. Verkin Institute for Low Temperature Physics and Engineering (ILTPE) in Ukraine. He leads experimental work on the "Chalcogenide nanostructures as a versatile platform for quantum bits (ChalQ)" project under Poland's Long-term program supporting Ukrainian research teams.
He earned his foundational degree from the Radiophysics Department of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv State University in 1990 and completed his PhD at ILTPE in 2022. His doctoral and postdoctoral work centered on developing precision instrumentation for low-temperature physics.
Stepanov's research spans experimental condensed matter physics with emphasis on superconductivity-magnetism interactions in topological materials. He pioneered pulse laser deposition techniques for high-temperature superconducting YBa2Cu3Ox films, characterizing critical current density, fluctuation conductivity, and impedance up to 107 Hz. Current work investigates monochalcogenide magnetotransport phenomena for quantum bit applications, leveraging his expertise in custom cryogenic measurement systems.
With 12 peer-reviewed publications accumulating over 25 Web of Science citations and an h-index of 4, his experimental contributions are documented through ORCID. The ChalQ project represents his primary active grant, focusing on quantum material platforms through international collaboration.
