Vijay Tiwari

Vijay Tiwari is a Professor and Head of Research at the University of Southern Denmark (Denmark) since 2023. He holds a Visiting Professor title in Frankfurt Academic Qualifications and has prior roles including Senior Associate Professor at Queen’s University (UK, 2018–2022) and Group Leader at the Institute of Molecular Biology (Germany, 2012–2018).

Education:

• Habilitation in Genetics (2016, Johannes Gutenberg University)
• PhD in Developmental Biology (2006, Uppsala University)
• MSc in Human Molecular Genetics (2002, Banaras Hindu University)

Research Focus: His work spans genetics, epigenetics, and gene regulation, with emphasis on cancer biology (e.g., metastasis drivers, TNBC chemoresistance), neurodevelopmental disorders (cortical folding mechanisms), and human disease mechanisms. He employs cutting-edge genomic and molecular tools to decode gene regulatory networks.

Recent Projects:

• Principal Investigator for Decoding the developmental origin of neurodevelopmental disorders (Novo Nordisk Foundation, 2023)
• Decoding the gene regulatory code of cortical folding (Danish National Research Foundation, 2024)
• Identifying novel chromatin readers of cancer metastasis (Danish Cancer Society, 2025)

Labs/Teams: Leads research groups focused on cancer epigenetics and neurodevelopmental genomics at the University of Southern Denmark.
