Vida Groznik

Dr. Vida Groznik serves as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, and is a core member of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (LUI). Her interdisciplinary work integrates advanced computational methods with critical real-world systems in energy infrastructure, healthcare diagnostics, and regulatory policy development.

Her research expertise centers on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, with specialized focus on deep reinforcement learning for dynamic optimization. Key application domains include Energy Systems (real-time grid management and poverty forecasting), Healthcare Informatics (neurodegenerative and oncological disease modeling), and AI Regulation (legal frameworks for regulatory sandboxes).

Dr. Groznik currently leads three major ARRS-funded projects: DRIFT for low-voltage grid optimization using deep reinforcement learning (2022-2025), development of Slovenia's national AI regulatory sandbox (2024-2026), and energy poverty modeling advancements (2025-2027). Her prior work encompasses Parkinson's disease detection systems (2012-2013) and molecular prognosticators for lung cancer (2016-2018), demonstrating consistent cross-sectoral impact.

Within the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, she drives innovation in decision-support systems through collaborative projects spanning energy resilience, medical diagnostics, and ethical AI governance, maintaining active industry partnerships through recent business collaboration contracts.
