Victoria Surliuga is an Associate Professor of Italian Studies and Italian Program Coordinator at Texas Tech University (TTU), housed within the Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures. She holds an M.A. from Brown University and a Ph.D. from Rutgers University. Her research focuses on modern and contemporary Italian art, cinema, literature, and celebrity culture, with notable contributions on figures like Peggy Guggenheim, Ezio Gribaudo, and Fran Lebowitz. She has curated exhibitions such as Ezio Gribaudo's Theaters of Memory and authored works including Ezio Gribaudo: The Man in the Middle of Modernism, which won TTU’s President’s Faculty Book Award. Her interdisciplinary work bridges poetry, translation, and visual arts, with six published poetry collections.
Surliuga has received grants from the CH Foundation, Texas Tech’s Scholarship Catalyst Program, and the Mount Holyoke College Alumnae Association. Her interviews with cultural icons like Marc Balet, Fran Lebowitz, and Ornella Vanoni explore topics ranging from Studio 54 to New York’s 1970s cultural landscape. Her research emphasizes intersections between art, poetry, and modernist movements, with a focus on Italian cultural identity.
