About
Victoria Adams is a British Academy Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Leeds, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures. Her current research investigates the 20-year impact of Brazil’s Pontos de Cultura initiative on cultural production and policy. Previously, she served as a Research Associate on the AHRC-funded 'Contesting Algorithmic Racism in Brazil through Digital Cultures' project at the University of Bristol (2023–2024).

Her research explores intersections of cultural policy, digital media, and memory studies in Brazil and Latin America. She analyzes how digital technologies reshape cultural narratives and access to heritage, particularly in marginalized communities. Current work includes collaborations with Brazilian artists and activists to assess government cultural policies’ sustainability and societal impact.

Awards:
- 2023 AHGBI Publication Prize for her doctoral thesis, which will be published as a monograph: Digital Media, Memory and Heritage in Contemporary Rio de Janeiro: Reproducing the Past for the Present (Legenda, forthcoming).
Victoria has taught Lusophone culture and translation at the University of Cambridge and holds professional affiliations with the AHGBI, REBRAC, and the Higher Education Academy. Her interdisciplinary expertise spans library sciences, informed by her role as Spanish and Portuguese Specialist at Cambridge’s Modern and Medieval Languages Library (2022–2023).
