Victor Armony

Victor Armony is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM). He holds the Canada Research Chair in Globalization, Citizenship and Democracy and directs the Center for ATO (Computer Text Analysis). Additionally, he serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Ottawa.

His research focuses on citizenship dynamics, cultural identities in global contexts, North-South relations in the Americas, and political discourse analysis. Key projects include studying racial profiling in police practices (2019) and exploring Quebec's cultural positioning between Anglo-Saxon and Latin American traditions (2002).

Recent publications analyze Quebec's role in inter-American relations, citizenship policy debates (2001), and hemispheric integration strategies (2000). His work frequently engages with government initiatives promoting Quebec's engagement with Latin America through political and cultural diplomacy.
