Dr. Vicki Tromanhauser is an Associate Professor and Chair of the English Department at SUNY New Paltz. She holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University and previously taught in great books programs at Columbia and Villanova University. Her research focuses on early 20th-century British literature, with specialization in human-animal studies, posthumanism, and classical reception in modernist texts. She has been recognized as College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Teacher of the Year (2019) and received the Andrew J. Kappel Prize in Literary Criticism (2012).
Her scholarship examines intersections between Virginia Woolf's modernism, animality studies, food studies, and the life sciences. Recent publications explore themes like meat symbolism in modernist literature, women's war writing, and pedagogical approaches to interwar women's texts. Her work appears in journals such as Journal of Modern Literature and Virginia Woolf Miscellany.
