Dr. Vicki Colvin is the current Dean of the LSU College of Engineering and holds the Bert S. Turner Chair. A native of Baton Rouge, she earned her bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Physics from Stanford University (1988) and her PhD in Chemistry from UC Berkeley (1994).

- Founding Director of Brown’s Institute for Biology, Engineering, and Medicine
Her research focuses on nanoscale materials' interactions with living systems and the environment, including:
- Electromagnetically active particles for disease treatment
- Perpetual antioxidants to mediate foreign body response in medical devices
- Over 200 peer-reviewed publications and 5 patents

- Fellow of AIMBE and AAAS
- 2015 Sustainable Nanotechnology Award
- Phi Beta Kappa Teaching Award from Rice University
