Vic Overdorf is a Postdoctoral Associate at the Humanities Research Center and a Postdoctoral Affiliate at the Center for the Study of Women, Gender and Sexuality at Rice University. Their work focuses on queer history and the carceral state, examining intersections between medical institutions, prison systems, and gendered subjugation.

Research & Projects: Vic’s current projects include Queer Alcatraz, repositioning Alcatraz’s history to highlight its role in queer incarceration and psychological experimentation, and a second project on psychiatric solitary confinement as a carceral technology. They are also developing workshops on decarceral pedagogies.
Support & Background: Their work is supported by the American Men’s Studies Association, Indiana University, and Butler University. Previously, Vic served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of History at Butler University.
