Veronika Aumann

Veronika Aumann is a Professor of Textile Design at the State Academy of Art and Design Stuttgart (ABK Stuttgart) since 2020, specializing in New Materials and Technologies. She chairs the Design Department and serves as a Senate member at ABK Stuttgart.

Educational Background:

• 2007–2013: Studied Textile and Surface Design at Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin and Chelsea College of Art & Design, London
• 2019–2021: Doctoral candidate in the artistic PhD program PhDArts at Leiden's Academy of Creative and Performing Arts (thesis not completed)

Research Focus: Her work explores intersections of textiles and technology, focusing on Active Matter and Digital Materials—speculative concepts where digital processes are embodied in physical structures, enabling dynamic material transformation. She also investigates foundational questions about textiles through the project On Textiles, examining their evolving definitions and applications.
