Veronica Vicente

Veronica Vicente is an Adjunct Professor and Docent affiliated with the Department of Clinical Science and Education at Södersjukhuset, Karolinska Institutet. Her research focuses on improving prehospital emergency care systems, patient assessment strategies, and understanding the psychosocial impacts of substance use disorders. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (2013) and advanced nursing degrees from Karolinska Institutet, complemented by extensive clinical experience.

Research interests include optimizing decision-making in out-of-hospital settings, nurse-physician collaboration in emergencies, and qualitative studies on patient and caregiver experiences. Key projects involve developing decision support systems for sepsis and acute coronary syndromes, supported by grants from Region Stockholm (2024-2025). She contributes to the 'Emergency care – Kristian Ängeby's research group' and collaborates internationally on studies addressing anabolic steroid use and trauma care resilience.
