Veronica Corcodel is an Assistant Professor in European and International Law at the NOVA School of Law (Universidade NOVA de Lisboa), directing the NOVA Refugee and Migration Clinic. She holds a PhD from Sciences Po Law School (2015), with a thesis on Modern Law and Otherness. Her expertise spans migration governance, EU asylum law, critical legal theory, and socio-legal studies. She has taught at Dublin City University and held a Max Weber Fellowship at the European University Institute.
Education: Doctorate in Law from Sciences Po (2015), focused on comparative legal thought and inclusion/exclusion dynamics. Previous fellowships include the French National Foundation of Political Sciences (2010) and the Harvard IGLP (2022).
Research Interests: Modern migration governance, decolonial approaches to EU law, Cold War legal history, and intersections between law and colonial history. Recent work examines the EU’s migration policies through a decolonial lens and explores climate-induced displacement frameworks.
