About
Verindi Vekemans is a PhD candidate at TU Delft's Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, Department of Sustainable Design Engineering. Her research focuses on regenerative living materials through the NextSkins European consortium, exploring how people perceive the dynamic expressions of these materials. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Industrial Design from Eindhoven University of Technology, with prior work on shape-changing interfaces and interactive materials.
Education:
- Bachelor's in Industrial Design (TU Eindhoven)
- Master's in Industrial Design (TU Eindhoven)
Research Interests: Biodesign, material temporality, and human-material interaction. She investigates how living materials' dynamic nature influences user experience through projects like the Material Experience Lab and Center of Design Research for Regenerative Material Ecologies.
Research Projects:
- NextSkins Project: Developing regenerative living interfaces with layered functional properties.
- Material Experience Lab: Cross-country collaboration redefining material-artifact relationships.
Labs/Teams: Marie-Eve Aubin-Tam Lab (Bionanoscience), Material Experience Lab, and Regenerative Material Ecologies Center.
