Vera te Velde

Dr Vera te Velde is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Economics, University of Queensland, and an affiliate of the Centre for Unified Behavioural and Economic Science. She holds a PhD from the University of California-Berkeley. Her research focuses on behavioral economics, social norms, and experimental economics, examining decision-making in social contexts.

Education: Doctor of Philosophy (Economics), University of California-Berkeley.

Research interests include behavioral theory, social preferences, signaling, and experimental methods. Her work explores topics like conformity to descriptive norms, heterogeneous norms, and reciprocity. Recent projects include studies on voter behavior, status quo bias in elections, and indirect reciprocity.

Grants and funding include the AQ Women's Research Assistance Program (2021) and projects on voter polarization and heterogeneous norms. She has contributed to cross-national studies on collective action problems and workplace incentives.

Affiliated with the Centre for Unified Behavioural and Economic Science, Dr te Velde teaches courses such as Behavioral and Evolutionary Economics and Principles of Microeconomics. She has published in journals including the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization and the Annual Review of Economics.
