Vera Mendonça

Vera Mendonça is an Assistant Professor in the Social Work bachelor’s and master’s programs at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD). She holds a PhD in Social Psychology and Anthropology from the University of Salamanca (2014) and a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from UTAD (2002).

Her research focuses on health and social work, spirituality in social practice, ethnographic methodologies, and gender equality. Notable work includes analyzing gender disparities in the Douro region’s tourism sector through the perspectives of women in local political roles.

She has contributed to interdisciplinary projects like DOUROTUR (focusing on tourism and technological innovation) and participates in national/international academic events. Her publications address socio-economic dynamics in regions like the Douro, emphasizing qualitative research approaches.
