About
Prof Ventsislav Valev is a Professor of Physics and Royal Society University Research Fellow at the Department of Physics, University of Bath. His research explores the interaction between intense laser light and nanostructured materials, spanning fundamental physics and applied technologies for industries like pharmaceuticals and food. He leads the research group at www.valev.org.
Research Interests include:
- Plasmonic nanostructures
- Chirality in metamaterials
- Quantum optical materials
- Nonlinear chiroptical effects
- Light-matter interactions at nanoscale
- Second harmonic generation
Recent Research Trends reflect a strong focus on chiral nanostructures, nanophotonics, and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) for environmental monitoring and biosensing. His 2024–2025 publications span nanoplastics detection, hyper-Raman optical activity, and virus sensors.
