About
Dr. Vedran Sohinger is an Associate Professor at the Mathematics Institute of the University of Warwick. His research focuses on nonlinear dispersive PDEs and many-body quantum problems, with a strong emphasis on rigorously connecting quantum many-body systems to nonlinear PDEs such as the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. He has contributed to foundational work on Gibbs measures, KMS states, and mean-field limits in quantum statistical mechanics.
He teaches advanced courses including MA271 Mathematical Analysis 3 and MA4A7 Quantum Mechanics at Warwick. His academic background includes a PhD from MIT (2011) and a Simons Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania (2011–2014).
Key research highlights include microscopic derivations of Gibbs measures for nonlinear Schrödinger equations, analysis of Bose gases at positive temperature, and studies of global solutions under probabilistic frameworks. His work bridges mathematical physics and analysis, with applications to quantum dynamics and statistical mechanics.
Awardees include multiple teaching excellence nominations at Warwick, ERC Starting Grant finalist status (2018), and recognition for his pedagogical contributions. He has organized conferences like 'Many-body quantum problems and dispersive PDEs' (2023) and maintains active collaborations with researchers such as Jürg Fröhlich and Antti Knowles.
His research grants include an EPSRC New Investigator Award (2020–2023) and a Simons Postdoctoral Fellowship. Current research explores Gibbs measures as equilibrium states, focusing nonlinear equations, and probabilistic methods in dispersive PDEs.
