Vedat Semiz is a Researcher at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), affiliated with the Centre for Political Theory (CTP) and the Institute for European Studies (IEE). His work, supervised by Professor Martin Deleixhe, applies Marxist theories of the state to analyze the democratic deficit within the European Union.

Research Focus: Vedat’s academic interests span Marxist and state theories, European integration, and democratic governance. His project critically examines how transnational governance structures, particularly in the EU, challenge traditional national statecraft paradigms.
