Vasilis Paschalis

Vasilis Paschalis serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor in Exercise Physiology within the School of Sciences at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where he continues active research following his tenure as Associate Professor (2021-2024) and Assistant Professor (2016-2021).

His academic foundation includes a PhD (2004) from the University of Thessaly's Department of Physics, Education and Sport Science, with doctoral research on "The effect of eccentric exercise on running economy," preceded by a BSc (1996) in the same discipline from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Dr. Paschalis's research program centers on Exercise Physiology, Redox Biology, and Muscle Metabolism, with specialized focus on aging populations and type 2 diabetes. His work investigates how nutritional interventions (protein manipulation, amino acid supplementation), antioxidant strategies, and specific exercise modalities modulate physiological responses including oxidative stress, proprioception, muscle damage biomarkers, and metabolic function. His methodology frequently employs randomized controlled trials and crossover designs to address inter-individual variability in physiological adaptations.
