Varun Chandrasekaran

Varun Chandrasekaran is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's Grainger College of Engineering. His research focuses on computer security, privacy, information trust, and AI-related risks, with notable work on automating privacy compliance.

He teaches courses including CS 461 (Computer Security I), CS 463 (Computer Security II), CS 562 (Advanced Topics in Security, Privacy and ML), and CS 591 SP (Security and Privacy).

He received the 2023 Amazon Research Award for his project 'Automating Privacy Compliance' and has publicly commented on emerging AI threats, such as the risks posed by OpenAI's Strawberry model.
