Varadi Ana

Varadi Ana is a Scientific Research Assistant (ACS) at the Department of Materials, Energy and Advanced Technologies, affiliated with Babeș-Bolyai University. Her research focuses on analytical chemistry, spectrophotometry, chromatography, and pharmacology, with expertise in iodine analysis and selenium biofortification of Allium species. She is currently a PhD candidate in Chemistry at Babeș-Bolyai University, having earned her Pharmacy degree from Iuliu Hațieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2012.

Education:

• PhD Student in Chemistry (2022–present), Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca

Research Interests: Varadi's work centers on selenium biofortification, exploring its anticholesterolemic and antifungal properties in edible Allium species. She investigates selenium uptake, speciation, and interactions with key enzymes like squalene epoxidase, aiming to develop analytical protocols and understand plant physiological pathways for combating micronutrient malnutrition.
