Vana Sypsa is a Professor of Epidemiology and Medical Statistics at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). She teaches Biostatistics and Epidemiology in undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
- Education: BSc in Mathematics (NKUA), MSc in Biometry (University of Reading, UK), PhD (NKUA Medical School)
Her research focuses on epidemiology and mathematical modeling of infectious diseases, including hepatitis C, HIV, SARS-CoV-2, hospital-acquired infections, and influenza, with emphasis on interventions among people who inject drugs.
She has collaborated with international organizations such as WHO/Europe, ECDC, EMCDDA, and CDC. Currently, she serves on the national scientific committee for COVID-19 in Greece and the scientific committee of the National Public Health Organisation.
