Valery Zhdanov

Valery Zhdanov is Professor and Head of the Astrophysics Department at the Astronomical Observatory of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine, a position he has held since 1997. He is a leading researcher in General Relativity, Relativistic Astrophysics, and Cosmology, with significant contributions to understanding dark matter and dark energy phenomena.

His academic credentials include postgraduate studies (1972), Ph.D. in Physical and Mathematical Sciences (1974), Doctor of Physics and Mathematics (1992), and Professorship in Astrophysics and Radioastronomy (2006), all from Taras Shevchenko National University.

Zhdanov's research spans relativistic dynamics, gravitational microlensing, and cosmological modeling. He developed foundational methods for two-body problems in relativity, relativistic shock waves, and observational signatures of dark matter and dark energy. Current work focuses on detecting manifestations of these components, which constitute 95% of the universe's mass-energy density.
