Valerio Riavez serves as Lecturer of Political Entrepreneurship at the London School of Economics and Political Science while simultaneously acting as CEO and Co-Founder of Electica, a political tech start-up specializing in digital targeting for progressive campaigns. His academic position at LSE complements his extensive practical experience in political technology and campaign strategy across multiple continents.
Dr. Riavez holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a Master's in International Business from LUISS Guido Carli, a Master in Business Administration from MIT, and a Master in Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School. During his time at Harvard, he served as a teaching fellow in leadership and European policy, bridging academic theory with practical political application.
His research interests focus on the intersection of technology and democratic processes, particularly how digital tools can enhance political engagement and campaign effectiveness. Riavez specializes in developing data-driven approaches to political strategy, with emphasis on GDPR-compliant digital targeting, progressive campaign technology, and cross-border political mobilization. His work examines how emerging technologies transform traditional political campaigning while maintaining ethical standards and democratic values.
As founder of Electica, Riavez has developed the first European digital targeting platform for politics and advocacy, working with campaigns in 28 countries worldwide. His practical experience informs his academic teaching on political entrepreneurship, creating a unique feedback loop between theoretical instruction and real-world application in the rapidly evolving field of political technology.
Throughout his career, Riavez has consulted and managed political and advocacy campaigns in more than 15 countries across Europe, Asia, and North America. He previously worked at Liegey Muller Pons (the company behind President Macron's movement in France) and co-founded Yes Europe Lab, which trained over 1,000 pro-European politicians and activists ahead of the 2019 EU parliamentary elections. His earlier career included positions at Mediobanca in Milan and BlackRock in London, where he participated in the stress tests of Greek banks during the 2015 bailout program.
