Valerie Struthers Walker is an Associate Professor and Lind Professor of Education at Gustavus Adolphus College, where she has taught since 2010. Her work focuses on elementary education methods, environmental education, and diverse children's literature.

She serves on the Minnesota Council for the Social Studies board and chairs the National Council for the Social Studies Notable Trade Book Award Committee, while developing curricula with the Minnesota Council on Economic Education and Open Windows Literature.
