Valerie Bonnardel

Dr. Valerie Bonnardel is a Reader in Experimental Psychology at the University of Winchester's School of Psychology and Social Sciences. She holds an MA in Experimental and Biological Psychology from Paris V and a PhD in Neurosciences from Paris VI, complemented by post-doctoral research at the University of Cambridge. Her international experience includes serving as the Asian Paints Colour Research Chair at India's National Institute of Design (2011-2012), where she established research programs bridging colour science and design applications.

Her research focuses on:

• Cross-cultural variations in colour experience and preference
• Individual differences in visual cognition
• Applied research in design, marketing, and political branding

Dr. Bonnardel's extensive publication record (50+ articles) demonstrates consistent focus on colour perception fundamentals while expanding into interdisciplinary applications. Her recent work examines colour's role in political branding, logo design evaluation, and cultural communication strategies, employing diverse methodologies from psychophysics to cross-cultural surveys.

She has secured significant research funding, including the £25,000 NID-Asian Paint Research Grant, and maintains active professional leadership as former Chair of the Colour Group (Great Britain) and Executive Member of the International Colour Vision Society. Dr. Bonnardel welcomes research supervision in colour perception and cognition.
