Valentina Baú

Valentina Baú is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Culture and Society, Western Sydney University. Her work bridges media & communication studies with international development, focusing on conflict transformation, reconciliation, and peacebuilding. She holds a PhD on participatory media's role in post-civil violence contexts. Her research explores theoretical and practical frameworks for Communication for Development in Peacebuilding, with fieldwork in Africa and Asia. She collaborates with international NGOs, the United Nations, and the Italian Development Cooperation, addressing issues like displacement, refugee welfare, and extreme poverty.

Her current DECRA Fellowship (2021-2024) investigates 'Development, Communication and Peace in Protracted Displacement.' Her work is published in academic journals and online platforms. She contributes to the Journal of Applied Journalism & Media Studies as a reviewer or collaborator.
