Val Adams

Val Adams, PharmD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice & Science at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. He serves as director of the hematology/oncology residency program and maintains an active clinical practice and research lab at the UK Markey Cancer Center. His research focuses on topoisomerase inhibitors, chemotherapy-induced toxicity, and supportive care strategies including pain management and nutritional interventions.

Dr. Adams completed his BS in Pharmacy at the University of Utah, Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Texas at Austin/San Antonio, and postgraduate training in hematology/oncology pharmacy at the Audie L. Murphy Memorial V.A. Hospital and University of Florida in immunology/transplantation. He has trained four residents through his residency program and contributed to over 150 peer-reviewed publications.

His research portfolio spans anticancer drug development, pharmacotherapy optimization, and cancer-associated complications such as thrombosis management and drug-drug interactions. He has led studies on novel agents like fosbretabulin, targeted therapies for neuroendocrine tumors, and supportive care innovations including medical foods for carcinoid syndrome.
