Valérie Gitton-Ripoll

Valérie Gitton-Ripoll is an Associate Professor and HDR (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches) at the University of Toulouse, specializing in Latin language and literature within the Heritage, Literature, History (PLH) research unit. She teaches Latin language and literature at University of Toulouse 2 (UT2J) and the history of ancient medicine and its reception at University of Toulouse 3 (UT3).

Her research focuses on Latin medical and veterinary texts with particular expertise in the history of veterinary medicine in Antiquity, the history and mythology of the horse, and the Latin lexicon of metallurgy. Dr. Gitton-Ripoll employs philological methods to analyze ancient texts, revealing connections between medical knowledge, cultural beliefs, and practical applications in the ancient world.
