V. Rajesh

V. Rajesh is an Assistant Professor in History at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali, Punjab. His research focuses on the history of progressive literary movements in Tamil and the intellectual history of early communist movements in Tamilnadu.

• Publications: Author of the book Manuscripts, Memory and History: Classical Tamil Literature in Colonial India (Cambridge University Press, 2014).

His work critically examines the interplay between anti-imperialism, socialism, and regional cultural dynamics in southern India, particularly through the lens of literary organizations like the All-India Progressive Writers Association and their impact on Tamil literature and political discourse.
