Prof. Dr. Ute Lange is a Professor of Midwifery Science at the Bochum University of Health, where she serves as Head of Study Department and Spokesperson for the Research Focus on Midwifery & Reproductive Health. Her work bridges midwifery practice, qualitative research methodologies, and theoretical foundations of health sciences.
- Education: Magistra Artium (MA) in Sociology and Educational Sciences from Fernuniversität Hagen (2007); Doctorate in Medical Sciences (Dr. rer. medic.) in 2015.
Her research prioritizes pregnancy and childbirth in contexts of chronic illness and disability, addressing social inequality, diversity, and women's health through the lens of human rights in obstetric care. She also explores international midwifery practices and innovative obstetric care concepts.
Prof. Lange is actively involved in institutional governance, serving on the Equal Opportunities Commission, Ethics Committee, and Executive Committee for Continuing Education and Transfer. She contributes to professional societies including the German Midwives Association (DHV e.V.), German Society for Midwifery Science (DGHWi), and COST Action CA 18211 on Perinatal Mental Health.
