Ute Engel

Prof. Dr. Ute Engel is a Full Professor for Medieval Art History at the Institute for Art History, Archaeology and Classical Studies at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. Her career spans institutions including the University of Mainz, University of Bamberg, and Ludwig Maximilian University Munich. She serves on academic boards like the Historische Kommission Sachsen-Anhalt and directs the Forum Art History of Britain and Ireland (FAHBI).

Research priorities focus on 11th-14th century architecture and visual arts, medieval cathedrals, European art transfer, and Baroque studies in Germany and the Holy Roman Empire. Her work bridges
