About
Prof. Dr. Uta Reibetanz is an Adjunct Professor at Leipzig University's Institute for Medical Physics and Biophysics, where she leads the Workgroup Multifunctional Drug Delivery Systems. Her research focuses on developing layer-by-layer (LbL) microcarriers for targeted drug delivery, intracellular processing, and inflammation treatment. She earned her Diploma (1999) and PhD (2003) in Physics from Leipzig University, followed by a habilitation in Medical Physics/Biophysics (2014).
Her work integrates polymer science, cell biology, and nanotechnology to design biocompatible carriers with applications in controlled drug release and cellular uptake enhancement. She collaborates globally with institutions like Nanyang Technological University and the National Nanotechnology Laboratory in Italy.
Prof. Reibetanz advises doctoral students and has secured significant grants from DFG and BMBF for projects on anti-inflammatory microcarriers and functionalized drug delivery. Her lab explores lipid-bilayer modifications, DNA origami hybrids, and virus-mimicking carriers.
