Ursula Zillig is a Professor of Fashion Design at the University of the Arts Bremen, leading the 'Unique Pieces and Programs' department since 2005. She previously taught at the UdK Berlin and worked in the international fashion industry. She holds memberships in the Art and Design Department Council, Examination Committee, and serves as a Conflict Mediator. Alongside Professors Dorothea Mink and Kai Lehmann, she co-leads the Masterstudio 'Human, Fashion, and Society.'
Zillig studied Fashion Design in Trier, Madrid, and New York. Her teaching focuses on experimental design processes, collection development, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Key projects include the 'Put a Ring on It' workshop combining traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques, and annual excursions to Milan's Salone del Mobile. Her courses emphasize material innovation, performance art, and sustainable design practices.
Her publications like the BREATHE series (Volumes 2-4) explore themes such as love, cultural exchange, and material versatility. Recent events include a successful presentation at the NEO.FASHION Graduate Show in Berlin (2019) and a performance 'ON SPORTS. NO SPORTS.' (2024). She has secured a DFG-recommended digital knitting machine, enhancing technical capabilities at the university.
